Good in the air and a handful for defenders but can't finish to save his life and can get quite wound up when things aren't going his way.

But that's not to say he's a bad player. If you play to his strengths he will do well for you.
Lee mills was like that when he came vale but with abit of coaching he turned out good for vale and Bradford and this Smith is a similar build to mills was.

Not a rumour per se but we’ve released Alan McCormack, he’s 35 now so up there in years but he is exactly what Stevenage need in central midfield from what I saw of them last season. If Maamria has a clue he should 100% be looking at him.

Might be the next in the growing line of Luton -> Stevenage moves in recent years.

Our opens trials took place this week. Anyone was welcome, bring boots, shinnies and a packed lunch and you play against the youth teams to see how you do.

A lad I know went down, he didn’t get invited back but said there were a few decent prospects that may get invited back for pre season. A transgender guy turned up as well, he didn’t get taken on but fair play for not letting the fact he used to be a woman stop him from trying to achieve his dream of being a footballer.

Quite a few time wasters there though. one was so fat his shorts fell down, there were others pissing about like sparking up cigarettes in the middle of the trial games etc. Pressley had a face like thunder about that, wasn’t impressed at all.

Arthur Gnahoua also turned up as he continues his rehab with a view to possibly earning an invite to pre season, but he apparently got in his car fucked off when he saw some of the fat twats he was having to play alongside.

Many Colchester fans on here? We've been linked with Szmodics on various occasions other the last few months and some chap on Twitter is saying we've agreed a deal with him. I'm not keen on it, I'd rather us sign Kasey Palmer, but he seems to have a decent record for you if a little inconsistent?

Come on huge strides this season I think and definitely deserves to be higher than League Two. In previous years I would have said his strongest attribute is his work ethic but that he was found wanting a little when it came to affecting games on the ball - he runs around non-stop and chases down lost causes for 90 minutes, full of energy. He would pop up with regular goals but have little influence elsewhere.

This year though he has been quality and looked a cut above for large periods of the season. Still working as hard as anyone and chasing everything with the same endeavour, but also looks much stronger technically. Seems more capable of beating a man and picks out the right ball more often, his selflessness has stood out quite regularly even if the player he's rolled in has gone on to miss.

Not sure if he would be ready for the Championship but it's difficult to tell how players will adjust to being in a better side.

Reading the article I think there were a fair few 'proper' footballers there, rather than it just being Gnahuoa and a lot of lads from the pub. Unless Pressley was being particularly kind about the pub lads, in his words it was because you get all sorts of names recommended to you and he wanted to filter out those who might actually hamper pre season training if they were invited for a trial once the players are back.

Decent, looks like we’ve signed him anyway

First signing announced. Nigel Atangana signs after leaving Cheltenham.

Looks like a decent enough first signing.

Good player if you can keep him fit. Not really a "League 2 Pogba" though. ;)

Gary Johnson in spouting shit shocker there.

He's a cracking player on his day - if he's not in the mood though he can look awful. Sometimes his simple passing is suspect as well. Made of glass as well so expect him to only play about a third of his 2 years.

Cheers. Definitely the sort of player we rarely sign. Most of our midfielders are usually 5ft 8 so it’s nice to see some physicality in there.

In his interview he was asked about being described as a L2 Pogba and he said that’s nonsense as “I am just Nigel!” Love him already.

So what with Reid being transfer listed it wouldn't shock me if he does sign for Cheltenham shortly. Wants to stay local, decent Barnett replacement.

Apparently we were set to sign him in January but it fell through.

I quite like the prospect of signing him as he's always looked good against us.

Absolutely, quality player when he's motivated/in favour. Was good up until Doidge came back, not prolific but good at holding it up, good lay-offs and quite a smart footballing brain. Would do well alongside a sharp pacy striker or two.

What's Reece Brown like? I know he's had a great season but good enough to step up? Us and Leeds supposedly offered him a deal, given the amount of money we're sat on Szmodics and Brown isn't the start to the summer we were hoping for I must admit.

Very good, best creative player in the league. 11 goals 14 assists, only small but has got a lot stronger physically. You have to play to his strengths though.

Capable of stepping up immediately? Do you have an opinion on Szmodics?

Harry Smith has left us to join Northampton. Good signing for them. Wish him all the best.
He was apparantly a target for us. Quite glad we missed out to be honest. He probably suits Northampton's style more, but the last thing I want to see us do is lump it up to a big guy upfront. If anyone I'd probably prefer Wilson from Macc.

He's gradually moving in a north-easterly direction since his time at Plymuff.

I can only assume he has been advised to move closer to the UK's centre-of-gravity by DEFRA.

Always like Reid but it was a shame he just couldn’t play alongside Stockley.

If Cheltenham get him then I’d say he’d be a decent signing.

Blew very hot and cold at Orient but any player that played under the Becchetti era has a big asterix next to their name because of how awful the conditions were. He was actually one of the better players, but could have a brilliant game followed by being completely crap. League 2 his level I think. Will put in a shift and is a very nice guy

I think massive Leeds fans said the same when they signed Roofe. That hasn't turned out too bad.

You’ve had a few of the very good players in L1 and L2 - Eisa, O’Dowda etc. Personally, I don’t think either Brown or Szmodics are as good.

You’ll know better than me if they’d improve you.

I don't really like O'Dowda mate and Eisa's barely had a kick so doesn't sound too promising.

The difference between making the POs and just falling short is probably down to a club’s back-up players.

Do you really want to be relying on L2 players to dig you out of any hole?

Absolutely crazy how Eisa hasn't been given a chance - he scored over 20 goals in one of the worst Cheltenham teams I've ever seen.

I'm still not convinced that the transfer was entirely above board.

What do you mean by that?

It seems odd, we've struggled for goals all year and he's barely been getting into our U23s side let alone the first team and he's been fit all year.
