That was a rip roarer of a match, which could have gone either way.
Curtis Main has been a canny replacement for Moult for 'Well.
Yeah, I agree and tbh Motherwell were unlucky not to go in 3 up at the break. Main certainly showed his strength when brushing Tavernier aside to set up the second. Always a hard hard game there as even Celtic found out a few weeks ago.

much needed win against Dundee at Ibrox on Saturday. Four goals scored, none conceded, bar and post hit three times although from someone I know who was at the game it wasn't the best performance. Cup semi next Sunday against Celtic. Hoping for a result more than confident.

Well where to start. Saturday....great and deserved win for Motherwell who were everything Aberdeen were not. Hungry, relentless with a want to win attitude. Aberdeen couldn't handle Motherwell's in your face game (where have I said that before?) and Curtis main in particular....I loved his and Well's 3rd. To be blunt Aberdeen were shite.

On to Sunday....a total humiliation if I'm being honest. Celtic dominated from start to finish. Although we lost the previous league game we showed an attitude that was sadly lacking yesterday. It looked as if the players were scared to compete. Celtic's goals which didn't come from the two pens were well taken and again showed up our defence for the shambles it has been all season. To be blunter we were awfully shite!

A fine cup final in the making come May and Celtic better be well prepared for a hard game....much harder than what we gave them yesterday but then again that wouldn't be difficult!

Really thought you lot would give Celtic a good game yesterday. It shows there is a mental block when you play them when the pressure is on. Do you think you'll be more competitive next season against them?

Salty....after the previous game at Ibrox where we showed a bit of attitude but still lost I honestly had no faith in them to win...indeed, for the last game I was confident enough to have a good bet on BTTS....not this one mate. I did have a good bet....£60 on over 2.5 goals but expected Celtic to do the scoring which turne dout to be the correct choice. As for next season......not a clue mate but I'll wait and see what happens over the summer.

One thing is for sure though, you are going to need proper investment in that squad.

It'll take years for Rangers to bridge the gap, as said it'll take some shrewd investment. Scottish football really needs them back on level terms because the lack of competition for Celtic is ridiculous now.

Key players now suspended at Rangers - they need the season to end and a decent manager .

Problem is Liam....where is this investment going to come from ? There certainly isn't a queue of such people/businesses lining up mate. The board have already put in cash (£millions) which will be converted into shares when they have an issue. I'm no financial wizard but the season ticket money alone won't suffice when we're talking about stadium upkeep, wages, hopefully transfers and not just fucking loans. I'm at a low at the moment mate. Only possible high on the horizon is 2nd place but I wouldn't bet on that and I like a punt!

They're not key players mate. Wallace's position is left wingback which has been more than adequately covered by Declan John since he arrived from Cardiff and imo is a far superior player to Lee Wallace. Kenny Miller has been out of favour for a starting position more often than not this season and a regular on the bench. As the manager prefers to play one up front, the main striker has been Morelos.

Just heard that Celtic got €32 mill from their European exploits this year, something near 10 times what they get for winning the league. No way Rangers can compete with that. They need to be more targeted in their approach on spending, and try and pull away from Aberdeen first before even thinking about Celtic.

Said that prior to this season starting mate. Baby steps and hopefully in the right direction and THEN consider the options for targeting Celtic. The way the split fixtures have gone against us we'll be lucky if we get 2nd. Btw...I forecast correctly what our home and away fixtures were going to be.

Belter of a game at Easter Road yesterday with Hibs beating, and deservedly so, Celtic 2-1. Unfortunately it puts Celtic in the position of winning the league at home next weekend against us....after last week's debacle at Hampden I can't see us taking anything from the Celtic game. Got to beat Hearts today to go back into 2nd on goal difference.

And you did.

Dundee got a late winner yesterday, looking a lot more hopeful we'll survive now. Another couple of points just to be safe in the remaining games.

Yeah, I was pleased to see Dundee get that one mate. As for our game....lot of huffing and puffing first half but nothing to show for it. You can have as much possession in the world but there has to be an end product. Second half was much better apart from the (lack of) defence at the Hearts goal...that was scandalous. We could and should have had at least 3 more but was not to be. Glad to see Cummings start and he did not let us down in any way. Got a fine goal and his movement was excellent....always looking to get involved and put himself in positions in the box if he had only been given the ball. Overall, not too bad but can't see it being good enough for next Sunday.

They are just up the road from me, good luck to them.

Dundee beaten by Motherwell yesterday, still hanging on here. Not as bad as Rangers today though Leo, ouch! What you think on the Gerrard rumours mate?

That was bad Salty....that was bad. The usual phrases come to mind and they aint wrong....humiliating, Men against boys etc etc. Not anything to say positive about the game from my perspective. Got to say congrats to Celtic though. Best in Scotland by a long, long way.

Gerrard ? Well, he has no experience of first team managerial duty but he was a class player, will have picked up numerous methods/tips through the managers he played under, no doubt from Klopp whilst youth team boss. Heard a lot of Gers fans say we need someone WITH experience but no names have been mentioned apart from Frank De Boer and Gio Van Bronkhurst but honestly can't see that. Up here Stevie Clarke but would he leave Killie and there also is another Scot...Alex Neil at Preston (?). Personally I think Gerrard will only come if he is informed that he will get £x amount.....there begs another question....where is it coming from? I'd take him....he can't do any worse than what has gone on previously.

Yeah I don't think it would be a bad move for both parties tbh. Stevie is shrewd, calculating and he certainly doesn't suffer fools. Given adequate backing, I think you'd be comfortably second this time next season. If he can close the gap a touch on Celtic, and maybe with a bit of luck win a trophy or two; then I think you guys would accept that for the time being?

I also think its good move for him too. He's jumping right into a cauldron there and its almost a thankless task at the moment due to the dominance of Celtic, and the lack of funds Rangers has to at least compete with them. However it also shows he's not going to be a shrinking violet, and wait for something easier to come round to dip his toes into management with; at Rangers the spotlight will be well and truly on him on and off the field as much as what it was when he was playing at Liverpool. He will pick up scars along the way, it goes the territory of being an Old Firm manager; but looking selfishly down the line from the Redmen pov, that experience he'll have with you guys - good and bad - could only help him if he does ever become Liverpool manager eventually.

Yep, a trophy would be good for me mate but first and foremost I would accept the club being run in a proper manner without all these embarrassments off the pitch which just won't go away......plus some consistency on the field which hopefully the next manager, be it Gerrard or not, can attain.

Rangers going to confirm Gerrard as manager today then, a 3 year deal. Martin Skrtel set to be his first signing it's reported.

Still going then - must be in his 30s?

Be gone next season if they don't come 2nd closer to Celtic or reach a cup final ...

After all that is what Rangers might expect even if it's not realistic?

It makes no sense but if Gerrard succeeds there he'll succeed anywhere.
